A GEO Agency Built on Off-Site Authority

A GEO agency gets your brand mentioned, cited and recommended in AI answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode. Link Builders is a GEO agency built for the hardest part to fake: what other websites say about you. I find the pages AI engines already cite for your buyers’ questions, then earn your brand a place on them.

I’m Justin Davis. I’ve built backlinks since 2015, and I run every engagement myself, with custom AI agents doing the heavy prospecting and research. I sell this work two ways: directly to companies that want to show up in AI answers, and as the white label off-site partner behind other GEO and SEO agencies. Either way it’s $160 an hour, with no per-link pricing and no promises nobody can keep.

Why Off-Site Authority Drives AI Citations

AI engines build answers from what the web says. Ask ChatGPT for the best accounting software for small law firms and the answer is assembled from review sites, comparison articles, industry publications, forum threads and resource pages. If your brand isn’t on those pages, your own site can be perfect and still not get named.

The data points the same way. In Ahrefs’ study of 75,000 brands, branded web mentions correlated with AI Overview visibility about three times more strongly than backlink counts. Links still matter, in a narrower way: they help the pages AI engines retrieve rank for the smaller searches those engines run behind the scenes. Links get you found. Mentions get you named. I break down the studies in brand mentions vs. backlinks for AI search, and the full playbook is in how to get your brand cited by AI.

What I found when I tested my own business

On October 1, 2026, I asked ChatGPT seven questions a tourist might ask about tours in Medellín, where I run my own tour company, Medellin Tours. Logged out, new chat for each question. It recommended Medellin Tours zero times. The site was open to AI crawlers and its content was readable. That wasn’t the problem.

What mattered was where ChatGPT got its answers: review platforms like Tripadvisor and Viator, independent travel guides, and other tour companies’ own pages. Every company it recommended had a large volume of reviews on the big platforms. When I asked about Medellin Tours by name, it leaned on a similarly named listing that isn’t mine. That list of cited sources is the outreach list, and the naming mix-up is a fix list. This is a baseline, not a success story. It shows exactly where GEO off-site work starts.

What I Do as Your GEO Agency

GEO off-site work, start to finish
  1. Prompt baseline. We agree on 10 to 20 real buyer questions, including “who should I hire” and comparison questions. I run each one in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI features, more than once, and record which brands get named and which pages get cited.
  2. Cited-page mapping. Every cited URL goes on a list, then gets qualified: independent, editorial, on-topic and live. Pay-to-play pages and anything you already control come off. What’s left is a ranked target list.
  3. Placements on the pages AI engines cite. I pitch those pages and similar ones for a named mention with a link, using a better resource or real data as the reason to say yes. You approve every site and every piece of content, and you see any publisher fee before it’s paid.
  4. Technical checks. None of this helps if AI crawlers can’t reach your pages. I check robots.txt, firewall and CDN bot settings, and whether key content is in the page HTML, then hand you a short fix list. The settings are explained in the AI crawler map.
  5. Content chunking. I review the pages you want cited so each section answers one question clearly and can be quoted on its own, following what Microsoft and Google actually say about chunking.

Brand consistency runs through all five. The Medellín test showed that a mention credited to the wrong company does nothing for you, so your name, listings and website links need to match everywhere.

Five-step mention-first link building workflow: list buyer questions, record cited pages, qualify, pitch for a named mention, track mentions and citations

Process and Timeline

The first block of hours starts with the baseline, the cited-page map and the technical check, because they decide where every outreach hour goes. Outreach starts as soon as you approve the first targets.

Timelines differ by layer. Technical fixes can show up within weeks in engines that search the live web, such as Perplexity and ChatGPT search. Off-site authority takes months, because earning real mentions on trusted pages is slow, specific work. Track the same prompts every month and judge progress over three to six months. I won’t promise a date, a citation or a ranking, because nobody controls AI answers.

How I Report

Reports cover what can actually be measured, and say plainly what can’t.

Every report covers
  • Prompt-level citation share: the same prompts rerun each month, each more than once because answers vary, with raw answers saved. You see which brands were named, which URLs were cited, and your share against competitors.
  • AI referrals in GA4: sessions from AI assistants, grouped with a custom channel so ChatGPT and Perplexity visits aren’t split across Referral and Unassigned. More on that in reading Search Console and GA4 data.
  • AI impressions in Search Console: Google’s generative AI performance reports show how often your URLs appeared in AI Overviews, AI Mode and Discover, and which pages appeared.
  • The work log: every site contacted, every reply, every placement and every cost.

The limits matter too. Google counts clicks from AI Overviews and AI Mode as organic search, and many visits from AI apps arrive with no referrer and land in Direct. And no tool can tell you when an AI recommended you to someone who never clicked. That’s why the monthly prompt runs sit at the center of the report.

GEO Agency Pricing

The rate is $160 an hour. Most clients start with a prepaid 30-hour block for $4,800. There are no monthly GEO packages and no per-link or per-citation prices, so every hour goes to the best opportunity, not the cheapest one.

For Agencies: White Label GEO Off-Site Work

Plenty of GEO agencies are strong on prompt research, content and measurement, then stall at outreach. That’s the part I do behind the scenes. You keep the client and the strategy. I run the cited-page mapping and earn placements under your brand, and you get reports you can put your logo on. The same terms apply as my white label link building for agencies: $160 an hour, your approvals on every site and piece of content, and I never contact your clients unless you ask me to. If you’d rather sell it as a line on your own rate card, here’s how my reseller program works.

What No Honest GEO Agency Promises

Search for the best GEO agency, the top GEO SEO agencies or the top generative engine optimization (GEO) agencies and you’ll mostly find lists written by agencies that rank themselves first. A better filter is what a provider refuses to promise.

Walk away if you hear
  • “We guarantee you’ll appear in ChatGPT.” Answers change with the wording, the user and the model version. No outside company controls them.
  • A fixed number of citations or links per month. Quotas push the work toward cheap, easy placements instead of the pages that matter.
  • llms.txt as the main deliverable. There’s no public evidence the major AI engines use it to decide what to cite.
  • Manufactured mentions. Fake reviews, astroturfed Reddit posts and paid spots on thin “best of” lists. Google says seeking inauthentic mentions isn’t as helpful as it might seem, and its spam policies now cover attempts to manipulate generative AI answers.
  • Private blog networks or link packages. Google already knows how to discount them, and they put your brand at risk.

GEO Agency FAQ

FAQ
What does a GEO agency do?

It works to get your brand mentioned, cited and recommended in AI answers. That usually means an AI visibility baseline, content changes, technical access for AI crawlers, off-site mentions and links, and monthly tracking. I focus on the off-site part and cover the technical and content checks that support it.

How is a GEO agency different from an SEO agency?

SEO aims for rankings and clicks in search results. GEO aims for your brand to be named and cited inside AI answers. They overlap heavily, since AI engines still pull from search indexes, but GEO puts more weight on brand mentions on independent sites and on how quotable your pages are. Here’s how GEO differs from SEO, and what carries over.

What’s the best GEO agency?

The one that shows you its prompts, its raw answers and every site it contacts, and refuses to guarantee AI placements. Rankings of “top GEO agencies” are mostly self-published. The 15 questions in my GEO services guide are a better test.

Which SEO agencies offer top AI SEO services?

Many SEO agencies now sell AI SEO. Ask each one which deliverables are new compared with their regular SEO work, how they track prompts, and who does their off-site outreach. If the answers are vague, you’re paying twice for the same work.

How much does a GEO agency cost?

Here it’s $160 an hour, usually starting with a prepaid 30-hour block for $4,800. Publisher fees, when a site charges one, are passed through at cost. See pricing.

How long does GEO take?

Technical fixes can show up within weeks in engines that search the live web. Off-site authority builds over months. Judge progress on the same prompts over three to six months.

Can you guarantee my brand will appear in ChatGPT?

No. Nobody can. I can promise a clear process, honest reporting and full visibility into every site, reply and cost.

Do backlinks still matter for AI search?

Yes, in a narrower way. Links help the pages AI engines retrieve rank for the searches those engines run. Brand mentions on trusted pages are what get you named. The best placements do both.

Do you work with other agencies?

Yes. I do white label GEO off-site work under your brand. See white label link building.
